the differences between WOM and UGC

I was thinking about the foundamental differences between word-of-mouth messages and user generated content in the online marketing context. There are some overlapping parts of the two theories. Both of them are used to deliver messages to other consumers. The basic difference lies in the original designer of the message delivered. WOM might be delivered by a power position, say a marketer of a brand; while UGC generates from the consumers themselves.

WOM messages concerns more about the path the message distributes whereas UGC focus more on the origin of the message distributed.

It will be interesting to find out the difference of influence of WOMM message and UGC message.
